"Embracing the Ethereal Glow: Kartik Purnima 2022 and its Cosmic Reverence"
"Discover the significance of Kartik Purnima 2022, auspicious Hindu festival of light, devotion, and charity, celebrated on the full moon day."
On the radiant night of November 8, 2022, the Hindu community will celebrate Kartik Purnima, a festival that holds a special place in the heart of devotees. Commemorated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik, this festival exudes a charm that is both enigmatic and divine. It represents not just the victory of light over darkness, but it is also a symbol of the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.
Kartik Purnima is also considered as the birthday of Lord Vishnu's first incarnation, Matsya. As per Hindu Puranas, it was this day when Lord Vishnu took the avatar of a fish (Matsya) to save Manu, the first human from the great flood. This day also marks the end of the four-month auspicious period for Jains known as Chaturmas; hence, they celebrate it as a day of enlightenment or the "Jain Diwali".
To celebrate Kartik Purnima, devotees light oil lamps and float them in water bodies after sunset. This sight of thousands of lamps twinkling on the water surface creates a mesmerising spectacle. Devotees also visit temples, offer prayers, and participate in religious discussions and cultural programs. In Odisha, the day is celebrated with the famous Boita Bandana ritual, where people float miniature boats remembering the maritime glory of their ancestors. In parts of North India, a grand fair known as the Pushkar Mela is held.
The significance of Kartik Purnima extends beyond religious boundaries. It is a festival that brings people together, promoting love, unity, and brotherhood. It is a reminder of our duties, our Dharma - to stand for the right, to spread light, and to dispel darkness. As we look forward to Kartik Purnima 2022, let's immerse ourselves in its divine spirit and illuminate our lives with love, peace, and wisdom.
